“So, what exactly do you do?”

its forepay

Sometimes people ask me, “So, what exactly do you do?”

In fact, it happened again last weekend.

This time I told my parents I’d draw a picture:

venn

“Huh.”

Neither one looked convinced.

I continued, “I make people feel something, which makes them buy something.”

Still nothing.

“It’s like those commercials with sad looking dogs at the shelter. People watch them and then send money. Or the old Apple commercial that made Apple users look cool and Microsoft users look like dweebs. Or when Billy Mays got people hyped up over a new laundry cleaner.”

“So, you make commercials?” my dad asked.

“Eh, sort of but not exactly. I make people feel something, which makes them buy something. But in emails.” I shrugged.

“Well, we are still very proud of you!” My mom went in for a hug.

My dad nodded.

Last week, I shared a story of a recent family outing.

Many of you enjoyed it, and some of you bought stuff.

(Even though there was nothing for sale.)

And I asked if people were interested in learning how I create emails like these (or if you wanted me to write some for you).

The response was an enthusiastic YES.

Therefore, I’m going to share a few ideas with you this week, and there will be an opportunity for some of you to go deeper.

Sound fair?

Good.

Tomorrow I’m going to spill some beans describing how I think about email content, how I plan it and write it, and how it gets people thirsty to buy.

-It’s different than direct response “copywriting.”

-It’s different than “preselling.”

-It’s different than “storytelling.”

If I had to describe what I do in one word, it would be “ForePAY.”

And with that tease, I’ll let you go until tomorrow.

See you then,

Greg

P.S. Some of you already want this badly. Even though you aren’t entirely sure what it is.

Well, that’s how you know it’s working.

Want to be one of the select few who gets to “go deeper?”

I’m starting a wait list for the thing that I haven’t even announced or described yet:
