Probably the secret to success

“It’s who you know, not what you know.”

I got my first job after graduation through a staffing agency.

Yes, I’d sent resumes and job applications to dozens of companies. None of them responded.

But the agency landed me an interview, and from the interview I landed the job.

At that job, I became good friends with a guy named Jon.

He pursued a better opportunity a couple of years later…

…then reached out to me when his new employer was hiring.

I easily got job #2 (and a hefty 40% pay increase) based on his recommendation.

A few years later, Jon left job #2 for a sales position at a staffing agency.

Guess who hooked me up with job #3?

At job #3, I became friends with one of our vendors.

He was a smart guy. He owned a business servicing our ultra high-end capital equipment.

A few years later, he made me an offer I could not refuse and hired me to come work for him.

Unfortunately, his business took a nose dive, and just over a year later they were bankrupt and I was unemployed.

But not before I’d met another guy, a fellow who used to be in the business…

…A guy who had the full customer list of the company that just burned down, PLUS money in the bank to kick off something new.

(Not only did he have the customer list, but most of those high net worth customers knew this guy personally. He already had their trust and respect.)

I partnered up with this guy, we launched a new business out of my garage to serve the customers on the list, and we hit a 7 figure run rate in less than a year.

Nowadays, most of my very best 1 on 1 clients come to me through a recommendation or referral.

The pattern continues.

Looking back, isn’t it incredible that every single step up, every single advance I’d ever made, was based on who I knew more than what I knew?

You’ve probably got examples of this in your own life too…

Well, let me show you a new way you can leverage this WHO not HOW truth.

There’s a company called Draftboard that helps companies fill open positions, helps job seekers find jobs, all through the power of personal referrals.

Referrals that you get paid for.

A crowdsourced recruitment and staffing agency.

Here’s an example of what their platform looks like.

(Open positions on the left, referral bonus on the right.)

jobs

These are all 100% remote positions

Know anyone who could fill those roles?

Refer them yourself and snag the referral bonus if they’re hired.

(And much of the time, you’ll at least get $25 if they land the interview.)

Even though I have no interest in ever returning to the “9 to 5” thing, I know many people who are quite comfortable doing so.

Why not make a few bucks while helping them out?

It’s like earning an affiliate commission for helping your friends find better jobs.

Win-win.

If you’d like to have this extra income source in your back pocket, sign up for free to refer your friends.
