The is one, ONE, lesson you must learn to “get rich.”

You must separate time from money.

“But time IS money,” the saying goes.

For most people, yes.

We exchange one for the other.

But until we can break the link, we are limited by the amount of time we have to exchange.

(We may increase the value of the time, like doctors and lawyers and my 1 on 1 coaching calls, but we are still fundamentally limited by the scarcity of time.)

I’ll be honest, I still constantly fall into this trap myself. (See 1 on 1 link above.)

But sometimes, I do smart things like creating assets that pay me over and over without any extra effort:

merch

“Merch by Amazon”

Back in 2017, took advantage of a new program called “Merch by Amazon.” Not gonna go into details, google it if you’re interested.

(Unless you’re great at both graphic design and marketing, I don’t recommend starting it.)

I put in a lot of effort that year, but not much afterwards.

And even though I consider the whole thing a Side Quest that distracted me for over a year, I can’t complain too loudly about the $57,248.61 in royalties they’ve sent me.

(It comes out to about $500 per month.)

The point here is not to go sign up for Merch.

The point is to find assets that “passively” pay you over and over.

Like rental real estate.

Or dividend paying stocks.

Or nowadays, digital products you own or control (which is what Merch by Amazon basically is), and the digital distribution systems to sell them.

Online groups and communities.

Social media audiences.

Email lists.

For those of you building your own audience and email list, you’re waving your finger at me, shouting, “but those aren’t passive at all. They take constant effort!”

Yes.

If you own them.

But what if you just borrow them?

(I NEVER want to own a boat, a trampoline, or a swimming pool. But I LOVE being friends with people who own them and are willing to let us “borrow” them.)

My friend and colleage Tomer Hen has become an expert at borrowing other people’s social media audiences and email lists.

Instead of building his own audience of customers, he has focused on building an audience of other audience leaders who will promote his stuff.

The work is building and maintaining relationships.

But those relationships passively generate revenue and new customers over and over, to the tune of $5.7M for himself and the brands he works with.

Until Friday, he is giving away key parts of what I call his “Influencer Acquisition System” for only $100. He has an extra bonus for people who sign up before midnight EST.

Tomer’s trainings are perfect for people who want to add significant leverage to their business in 2025, and is a perfect compliment for anyone pursuing a “TikTok Shop” strategy now or in the near future.

You may be wondering if this is a “shiny object” or not. Without knowing you and your business, I can’t answer honestly.

But what I can tell you is that every month that Amazon sends me my $500 of March Money, I feel a little better about that Side Quest I went on in 2017.
