- The single trait of all winners
The single trait of all winners
do you have it?
What single trait do all WINNERS have in common?
Take a guess….
.
.
.
When I asked this question on social media over the weekend, people offered a lot of answers.
Most had to do with perseverance:
But my favorites were these two:
.
And while I love and respect both Travis and Mark, I think the MOST BASIC, fundamental answer is something different.
Put simply, the trait that ALL winners share is, by definition, that they WIN.
Repeat winners have a knack for finding a way to win,
And they routinely experience winning.
Winning repeatedly creates a positive feedback loop,
Making the next win a little easier and more automatic.
It starts to soak into your subconscious,
And you end up winning without constant conscious effort.
That secret sauce tastes like a blend of confidence and humility.
And it flavors the success of all the greats.
But there’s something else you need to know.
If you're stuck in a pattern of not winning,
You gotta break out fast,
Any way you can.
If you've forgotten what winning feels like,
You'll play for "loss prevention" instead.
And as strange as it sounds,
Playing "not to lose" is the OPPOSITE of playing to win.
It’s ineffective and dangerous.
And leads to a lifetime of not winning, but not quite losing.
Performance Purgatory.
Which feels like trying to merge onto the highway with the parking brake engaged.
The GOATS know this.
Take a look:
Here’s the thing.
Earlier this year, I delivered a coaching and training program to a small group of VIP’s, and to my surprise, they all told me afterwards that the MINDSET training was more helpful and valuable than the TACTICAL HACKS training.
I’ve been thinking about that unexpected result for months.
Do people NEED more mindset, even though they WANT more tactics?
I dunno. Truly.
No call to action today.
I just want you to think about this with me.
Go do some winning,
Greg
P.S. Ben and I recorded another killer episode of our podcast. And he kicked me out of the thumbnail this week. Which is fine.
